stations that test their skills not just in automotive technol- ogy, but also professional skills necessary to represent the industry, and themselves, when looking for careers. From a mock job interview, to diagnosing an automotive electrical set board relay, electronic service information and more in-depth challenges such as state inspection law, each student and team was put through their paces. Other stations included a Mega Tech brake station, Hunter tire and wheel service and Electude. Whether teams were in the top three or not, every team took away a tremendous learning experience. These com- petitions have become vital to the NHADA Foundation’s workforce development program. LRCC student Garrett Houle says, “As a senior in the GM ASEP program, I am just few a months away from being let loose into the indus- try. As a student, I was given the opportunity to compete in competitions such as the one for the NHADA. These competitions help provide the drive for students to better themselves and gain an edge over their fellow classmates who choose not to participate.” On hand as station judges were instructors from several of the CCSNH Automotive Technology programs, includ- ing White Mountains Community College, Manchester Community College, Nashua Community College and host Lakes Region Community College. There were several representatives from industry on hand to support the students. New England Kenworth, Souhegan Valley Motor- sports, Heritage Harley Davidson, Irwin Motors, Cantin Chevrolet, Belknap Subaru, AutoServ, Grappone Honda and MB Tractor all provided displays of the newest tech- nology for students, teachers and family members to view. Next stop will be the National Automotive Technology Championship at the Javits Center in New York City in mid- April. The team from Nashua North is now Team New Hamp- shire! Instructor Jason Smith will be training them during their free time from now until leaving for NYC with support from NHADA members and LRCC Professor Jamie Decato, who is lead coach for the team. We wish them the best of luck as they represent us as New Hampshire’s best. DANI GORDEN Advertising Sales 8 . . Dani@thenewslinkgroup.com WORDS.
