L akes Region Community College hosted the practical phase of the NHADA Auto Tech State Championship that had several teams within points of each other from the written test section. When it was all said and done, the team from Nashua High School North was on top. Led by a second year instructor, Jason Smith, Nashua North was able to beat out a formidable team from Concord Regional Technical Center that took second and instruc- tor Dave Lilly’s defending program, Portsmouth High School, that took third. Ten teams qualified for the practi- cal phase, setting the stage not just for bragging rights as New Hampshire's top auto technology students, but also for the opportunity to compete nationally and to qualify for additional scholarships. The format of competition is based largely on that of the National Automotive Technology Championships that take place each year in April in New York City at the New York International Car Show.
