READY, SET, GO! COMPETITION SEASONHAS BEGUN P ower up your scan tools, pass out the wrenches and prepare for battle. The NHADA Education Foundation high school automotive technology competi- tion series has begun. The format for the series consists of two phases. Phase 1 is the knowl- edge based written test that has just wrapped up this fall. Phase 2 will be the practical based competition that will take place Jan. 11, 2020 at Lakes Region Community College. The team with the highest combined score from both phases will become the New Hampshire Automotive Technology Competition champions and earn their bids to the National Cham- pionship in New York City in April. A total of 18 schools with automotive technology programs are competing this year. The current lead- erboard after the written portion has Nashua North High School in first place, Concord Regional Tech- nical Center in second place and defending cham- pions Portsmouth High School in third. Because the scoring is a combined, cumulative score, nobody can rest on their laurels because anything can happen at the practical competition. All of this knowledge has to translate down to their hands where they will be required to diagnose and repair “bugs” in vehicles at the practical competition. We can’t thank you enough all of the career techni- cal education centers that have participated and we applaud the time and effort the instructors put into JESSICA DADE EDUCATION FOUNDATION DIRECTOR these students. We also need to acknowledge the assistance we receive from Lakes Region Community College’s Jamie Decato for helping to create the written test and hosting the practical competition. D R I V E 8
