Loss Prevention Encourages NHADAWCTMembers to Participate inThis Year’s Slip/Fall Prevention Contest E very winter season, Loss Prevention con- ducts a slip/fall prevention contest. The goal is to generate awareness and encourage actions that will keep people safe during winter storms. The contest is easy to enter, and every entry gets a prize. Individuals whose organizations are WCT members can par- ticipate and win prizes for submitting any of the following: • Filled-out lot inspection reports. • Photos of well-maintained parking lots. • Photos of cleanup activities. • Ideas to prevent slip/fall injuries. After snow accumulates, you may submit entries within 36 hours by visiting nhada.com/safetycontest. Again, all entries will receive prizes that include: • Gift certificates. • NHADA apparel. • Pizza parties. • Personal snow rakes. • Grip-lite traction footwear. Loss Prevention will also enter every entry into the end of the season grand prize drawing. The Loss Prevention staff will judge all entries and award a grand prize for the best overall entry. So, fill out the lot inspection reports, snap those photos, or send in your creative ideas! One entry per person per storm, please. Loss Prevention also strongly encourages WCT organi- zations to create a detailed winter storm cleanup plan for every location. The benefits of a plan include results such as easier and more thorough preparation and cleanup, time savings and increased safety. Below is an edited sam- ple plan that was submitted by a contestant in an earlier contest. Members who incorporate some of these great ideas will certainly benefit. Winter Weather Plan Pre-Winter Preparation • Align the vehicles in the lot for winter. • Check and order snow brooms. Use only clean brooms.
