O n Friday, October 4, from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Manchester Community College, the NHADA Foundation partnered with the Community College System of New Hampshire (CCSNH) to host an Automotive Technology College and Career Day. For the last 20 years, CCSNH and NHADA have hosted this event to bring together all aspects of the automotive industry to display the career path options for students. This includes independent repair shops, new car deal- erships, motorcycle sales, repair businesses and heavy machine companies. The agenda will include faculty demonstrations, presentations, interactive displays and engaging activities. Tool displays and a selection of vehicles for students to view and learn about will be available as well. This year, hundreds of high school students aspiring to have a career in the automotive field made it the largest turnout to date. By attending this event, it helped students to gain career advice, connect with potential employers and seek recommendations about programs they are interested in. The instructors from the auto tech programs, as well as representatives from granite state automotive businesses, help students map career goals and match them to the training programs that will help get them there. These industry partners are hoping these resources, and their advice, will drive students to consider a career at their businesses. Statewide worker shortage, and advanced training requirements, makes it difficult for them to find qualified candidates. We at NHADA look forward to this collaboration year after year.
